Easter Week
Good afternoon Grace Church,
Today would normally be the day for the weekly Psalm devotional and Home Group questions. But instead I just wanted to flag up a few events that will be taking place over this week.
Walter Petrie Funeral
Walter Petrie was a much loved member of our church. His family have commented on how thankful they are for the church and our care for him. All are welcome to come to the service.
The funeral for Walter is on Thursday at 1.30pm in the Chapel of Rest on Broomfield Road. His body will be laid to rest then at Sleepyhillock extension. Afterwards, all are invited to the Park Hotel for refreshments.
Good Friday Communion Service
On Friday evening, we will be holding a Communion Service at 7pm in the Playhouse. This is a service where we read through the account of Jesus’s death in the Gospel of Luke, sing songs that celebrate its significance and commemorate Christ in the Lord’s Supper. The tone of this meeting is more reflective.
Prayer Meeting for the Persecuted Church
In some of his final teaching to his disciples, Jesus said
If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.
Followers of Jesus still suffer the world over for his name. We want to take the time on this Easter Saturday to pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who are afflicted.
We will meet on Saturday at 10am at the Minister’s house.
All-Age Easter Guest Service
On Easter Sunday, at the usual time and in the usual place, we will be hosting an all-age guest service, we will be remembering and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. We will also be rejoicing in professions of faith among some of our teenagers. Come along and invite others.
